Pressure Losses in the Heating Installation Pipework and Hydraulic Resistance
The flow of the medium through the pipework is affected by pressure losses. The loss concerns static pressure and consequently—total pressure. Dynamic pressure in a given section of the pipework with a constant cross-section, being the effect of the medium velocity and density, is unchanged because the two parameters remain constant if the water flowing in the system is in the liquid state. The considerations presented in this chapter concern the water flow through circular ducts with diameters smaller than those of what is referred to as mini-channels, for which some equations of classical fluid mechanics are not valid.
