Biological metal organic framework (Bio-MOF) for detection of voltaic organic compounds (VOC’s)

Highlights•Synthesis of Bio -MOF (CD-MOF-1) employing Β-cyclodextrin and Sodium oxalate.•Exploring the properties of Bio -MOF in sensing application.•Forecasting CD-MOF-1 as a pertinent substantial VOC sensing substantial.•Comparative study amongst CD-MOF-1 and β-cyclodextrins (β-CD) for VOCs detection.Abstract(C42O35H70)2(NaOH)4·H2O (β-CD-MOF-1) has been successfully synthesised in CH3OH/H2O solvent using β-CD (β-cyclodextrin) and Na2C2O4 (Sodium oxalate). The Powder X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD), Scanning electron Microscopy (SEM), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Ultraviolet Visible (UV-VIS), and Photoluminescence (PL) Spectroscopy analysis have been used to validate the analysis of synthesised β-CD-MOF-1. β-CD-MOF-1 prove its feasibility in linear range to be utilised as optical sensing probe for voltaic organic compounds (VOCs) i.e., Nitrobenzene (NB). A comparative study has been performed between β-CD-MOF-1 and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) to detect VOCs. And we found out that β-CD-MOF -1 can be used as excellent potent sensing material for VOCs sensing in an aqueous medium.
